Some little watercolor sketches in my pocketbook-size sketchbook from Moleskine

“In a centuries-old town where little seems to have changed since the Middle Ages, La Roque-Gageac is a true print-it-off-and-pop-it-in-a-frame kind of village. Stroll around the picturesque houses, admire the stunning views and enjoy the lush microclimate in this little piece of Perigordian Heaven.”

We were treated to a real French picnic with the most fabulous food along the river for lunch. Katel’s picnic was a three-course meal of quiches, salads, apple cake, and wine. Oh, Katel—I miss your cooking so much! Click the link to read the full blog!

This is one of the wonkiest buildings with many add-on parts; it was so much fun to sketch! Joyce, the dog in the photo, was so sweet and kept coming over for some pets. I love sketching - drawing/scribbling/painting in a sketchbook. It slows down time and makes me more present. I see things differently. I get absorbed in the process of it all. And it feeds my soul. We did a lot of sketching that day. Everywhere we turned, there was another perfect image to capture. I loved seeing my group in different parts of the town with their sketchbooks open, studying the architecture and unusually built buildings. We ate a lovely lunch in town and explored more before returning to make art! Click the link to read the full blog!
Imagine you are the only one in a medieval church. You look up to hear the birds flapping in the tower, notice all the stonework and the colored stained-glass windows, and feel absolute peace.

Perigord Retreat 02 - Domme, one of "The Most Beautiful Villages of France"
My favorite moments are when I spy someone from the group sketching - do you see Holly? We sketched, painted, sipped wine or coffee back in the studio, and were just giddy about the incredible day. At 7 p.m., we had another three or four-course meal from Katel, and then we either walked in the hamlet or played more in the studio, which was open all the time. The perfect day. Can you imagine me as a front-seat passenger in the van as Harrison drives up to these beautiful places? Mouth Wide Open! The whole region of Perigord is jaw-dropping gorgeousness steeped in history, culture, and beauty. Domme, labeled as one of ‘The Most Beautiful Villages of France,’ Domme’s impressive architecture is among the most well-preserved medieval towns in the Dordogne Valley, and the panoramic views are second to none. Perigord Retreat 02 - Domme, one of "The Most Beautiful Villages of France"
The whole region of Perigord is jaw-dropping gorgeousness steeped in history, culture, and beauty. Once the sun came out, we started to explore the town. Some went shopping, and others wandered down little alleyways. Can you guess where I went? Every small street or alleyway had beautiful flowers, medieval doors, lace in the windows, and poppies growing from the wall. Every scene was something to sketch. I have hundreds of photos, sketches, and fabulous stories to share so I am sifting through those this week in reels, emails, and blog posts.

My group—nine incredible women and one exceptional hubby who came for support, fun, and adventure—is still texting and swapping sketches daily! I love you all and miss you so much

Meet Miron Schmuckle. We had no idea, but it was a gallery opening night for this incredible artist. I was mesmerized. Flowers and sealife inspire Miron, and then he creates his own “sea flowers” from his imagination. Imagine a seedpod dahlia or an anemone rose. I had many questions about his process, so imagine how excited I was to chat with the artist. Read the full blog here: https://www.andreagarvey.com/post/paris-22-000-steps-and-2-artists-later

I literally stopped in my tracks when I saw this magnificent painting in a window. With my mouth open, staring at this marvel, a sweet young man came out and handed us some champagne. Well, yes, please! Read the full blog here: https://www.andreagarvey.com/post/paris-22-000-steps-and-2-artists-later
