Ocean Banner - Seahorse by AquaticFishy on DeviantArt
"Our marine life has been replaced by trash." | The Great Pacific Ocean Garbage Patch is an island of pure plastic garbage, not discovered until the 1980's, larger than the state of Texas, floating in the center of the Pacific ocean. This plastic photodegrades into smaller & smaller pieces, but never actually biodegrades & reincorporates into the environment in a meaningful way. The scary thing about plastic is, it actually becomes more toxic with time, the more it breaks down. | #paradigmshift
Did You Know...... Over the last ten years we have produced more plastic than during the whole of the last century. Enough plastic is thrown away each year to circle the earth four times. Plastic constitutes approximately 90 percent of all trash floating on the ocean’s surface, with 46,000 pieces of plastic per square mile.
