Bridger Barksdale, a 25-year-old artist living in Utah, had never traveled across the Atlantic before when a friend of his, in Kiev, convinced him to come to Ukraine for a visit in 2020. “I ended up staying there for three months,” he says. Watercolor artist Mary Whyte hopes to help you create your best. In "Blue Umbrella," pictured here, she exemplifies movement. “Having a sense of movement in a painting is one way to add interest. Even if nothing is actually moving in the scene, leading the viewer’s eye through the pictorial space in a rhythmic and continuous manner will give the painting its own sense of motion and life. Here, I created the feeling of rain using water-soluble crayons mixed with watercolor washes.” Paintings, Draw, Painting & Drawing, Portrait, Drawings, Art Gallery, Kunst

"Watercolor allows me to make my own response to what I see and feel. Specifically, certain landscapes in the U.K. have become favorites because of proximity or family holidays. I know their vistas and details intimately. With that being said, why is it that some paintings are deemed to be atmospheric, while others aren’t? Atmosphere in a painting is, with a few exceptions, not about technique. First and foremost, it’s your connection to the place that matters." ~ Oliver J.
