Horse of course!

Most of my young years were spent eating lunch with our horses, under the black walnut trees located in the the lumpy pasture behind our house. This too is the place where our horses spent their most of their days, along with a few cattle and our Jersey cow, Daisy. Or I would be taking long solitary rides, usually at a full run, across the Idaho landscape, weaving in between the rows of hops headed at harvest, to the breweries of southern Idaho. My mother said i ruined every horse i every rode, for other riders, because all they would want to do, was run at full speed and jump any object taller then a pencil. My horse Lady and other horses i would come to know later in life, would take that place in my heart of a devoted best friend, and they were. :) Later in my teens i would enjoy riding Western pleasure, while learning the art of barrel racing, or just racing and trying to beat anyone who would be willing to race. But my favorite events happened in my 20-30’s when i took up shoveling horse poop, to have the means/& privilege to learn and compete in English Hunter Jumper competitions. Unfortunately, after a serious injury, [unrelated to my horses] I was no longer afforded the normal risk of an avoidable injury or i would be sucking air from a bottle, if blessed enough to be breathing at all. However, my love of these magnificent, sensitive, loving mysterious creatures has never lessened....i still love the smell of them, i still love that sweet soft place on their muzzle... where an affectionate kiss can be so easily placed.....What a blessed gift they are and will always be...thank you Father for this knowledge.
