The Origins of Fire. An Apache legend of a fox that flew with geese, a journey that lands him in a firefly village where a great fire burned at the center. In order to leave, the fox needs a cedar tree to catapult him. The fox and the fireflies have a festive celebration. The fox quietly ties a piece of bark to his tail and sneaks closer to the fire. It ignites as the cedar tree throws him over the wall, allowing the fox to carry the first fire to the Apache nation.
