Design Alvar Aalto, 1936 – The Aalto Vase, also known as the Savoy vase, is a world famous piece of glassware and an iconic piece of Finnish design created by Alvar Aalto and his wife Aino Marsio. Design legend Alvar Aalto created his iconic series of glass vases in 1936. Inspired by the waves in water, it has become a staple of modern Scandinavian design. Each Alvar Aalto vase is unique and mouth blown at the Iittala glass factory in Finland.

The "Alvar Aalto" collection has an interesting feature around its production. The sand used for creating glass in 1937 was not as pure as it is today. That is why one of the original colours used for the vases has a light green tint. Today it carries the name '1937 clear'.
