The first time I made a quilt I wasn't quite sure how to sew on the binding. I spent a lot of time making a quilt for my mom's 80th birthday, and I didn't want to mess it up by doing a poor job on the binding. Fortunately, I have a co-worker friend who is an avid quilter and gave me a super easy way to bind it.

Heather Whitworth on Instagram: "One of my cute followers asked if I could do a video on quilt binding corners. Well, @athomewithamyy here are your corners as promised 😍. 🧵 When I first started quilting about 15 years ago, my quilt corners looked pretty terrible to be honest. But I kept at it and practiced a lot, and now corners are second nature to me. One of the best things I did to get my corner practice in was I made about 8 small quilted wall hangings to go in my daughter’s nursery, that’s 32 corners I got to practice on… after that, corners weren’t as intimidating anymore. It’s all about the reps 👊. 🧵 Many people ask me what size binding I use. I use anything from 2.5 inch, 2.75 inch, to 3 inch wide. It just depends on the width of binding I want on the edge of my quilt. Do you have a go-to size to cut your binding? Have you ever tried a different size to see what effect you would get? I thought I would do a little experiment to show you different sizes and what they look like all sewn up!Here, I have four different sized strips: 2”, 2¼”, 2½” and 3”. I quilted up some sample swatches with a layer of 100% cotton batting in the middle. If you like to use thicker batting or thicker fabric like flannel or Minky, you may want to adjust the cut size to accommodate…
