Le Corbusier's Petite Lounge Chair (LC2) is a smaller version of the famous Grand Confort Lounge Chair (LC3) design from 1929. Born Charles Edouard Jeanneret, Corbusier is undoubtedly considered to be the most important Modernist chair designer in France. A spirited advocate of Modernism, Le Corbusier created a range of chairs that expressed his ideas with great sophistication. Mrs. Heidi Weber of Zurich first put the Le Corbusier collection into production in 1959. With his approval, she changed the appearance of the Petite Lounge Chair (LC2). She removed the spring mechanism and used fabricating methods which allowed the frame to be chromed. She also gave the cushions a more formal, tailored look. Description Vintage suite of two, LC1 armchairs by Le Corbusier for Cassina. Compact silhouette, frame constructed from chrome plated steel. Black leather and pony hide sling style seats and tilting backrest. The LC1 chair was originally introduced at the Salon d’Automne in 1929 by the designers Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand.
