Nuno felting tutorial

Grasping the concept of felting, the process of meshing fibers together to create felt, isn’t too difficult, and in fact, felting can be a fantastic creative outlet and hobby. When you begin to explore some of the lesser-known techniques, however, things can start to get a little confusing. What’s the difference between wet felting and nuno felting?

Nuno felting is a technique developed in 1994 by the textile artists Polly Stirling and Sachiko Kotaka. By manipulating a small amount of wool fiber through a base fabric, they learned they could create a felted fabric with characteristics quite different from traditional felt.
