Princess and the frog movie night food

This week, we paid homage to the Mardi Gras season by enjoying a Princess and the Frog Dinner Night on Fat Tuesday! Since we were married on Mardi Gras day last year and Princess and the Frog is a FAVORITE Disney film in our household, I wanted to pay tribute with a Princess and the Frog Dinner Night. I used this as an opportunity to learn a little about Mardi Gras culture and traditions and try my hand at making some traditional New Orleans dishes.

Disney Dinner and a Movie Night ~ The Princess and the Frog Party. We had Tiana's gumbo, Louis's spicy jambalaya, bayou crab cakes with remoulade sauce, Mama Odie's swamp water, star cantaloupe for Evangeline, watermelon hearts for Ray's love and kiwi lily pads for Tiana and Naveen when they were frogs. For dessert, we had either Charlotte's (Lotte's) "man catching" beignets or traditional Mardi Gras king cake. Snack during the movie was gummy frogs and Dr. Facility voodoo candy necklaces.
