The Tower, from William Butler Yeat’s Tarot cards The Tower struck by lightning is the 16th Tarot trump. In the Golden Dawn system this card represented 'the Tower of Babel struck by the Fire from Heaven'. Its symbolism would have been explained to Yeats as he progressed through the ceremony of the Philosophus Grade, of 4°=7°, with the symbolic title of Pharos Illuminans, 'the Illuminating Tower of Light'.
