Warning! Potential spoilers ahead. I'm super happy that I was able to help Toby T, our Lighting Lead, with the cinematic lighting for Ghost. This was probably my favorite part of lighting for the game. My work included character lighting, adjusting DoF and exposure, some tonemapping and other tweaks like bloom, ambient lighting, volfog, etc. I also did the location lighting on most of these, with the help of Carlon Addison in places like the castles and some warcamps. Some of these cutscenes took place during a locked time of day- mainly the major ones like Jin and Ryuzo's confrontation and duel, and Jin and Shimura's last scene together. For the most part though, the scenes I worked on could take place in any time of day, which was a bit tricky to work around. Thankfully Toby, along with our wonderful Lead Rendering Engineer, Jasmin Patry, and our Programmer, Chris Heidorn, came up with a dynamic light rig solution that got us 80% of the way there on most of these cases. With 2 lighters working on cinematics and hundreds of these to go through, the rig saved our bacon. That being said, I went through as many of these cutscenes as I could to do custom lighting on them and make sure they worked during all times of day.
