Charcoal Powder

Portrait with sanguine in my sketchbook. First I primed the drawing surface with walnut ink. Then I drew the portrait with a sanguine pencil and painted the shadows with sanguine powder and a brush. I drew and painted the shadows on the face with charcoal pencil and charcoal powder.
