Swamp feeding time! 🐊🐊🐊
Daily crocodilian feeding times are at 12pm and 3pm. The locations change around the Zoo, so be sure to call ahead to check which ones are being fed on the day you're visiting. Feeding shows are also weather dependent. If it's too cold, there will be no crocodilian feeding demonstrations. #wintervacation #floridavacation Photo provided by Gen, General Curator.
When the Easter Bunny visits the Zoo, they bring the coolest eggs! 🐰
Have a HOPPY Easter! 💚 Actually, these green eggs come from our Southern Cassowary, Lillipilli. You can meet her and see one of her giant green eggs on our Behind-the-Scenes Tours offered throughout the week. #easterdecor #easteractivity #floridavacation #staugustine

There are about 55 species of Hornbills, found in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa and Asia. Most of the threats to the survival of hornbills is habitat loss and the illegal wildlife trade. You can see them gracefully strutting around the Birds of Africa habitat with the vultures and Marabou Stork. Conservation status: Vulnerable to extinction. The threats they face include: habitat loss, illegal capture for commercial trade, poisoning, and more. Known as the Black crowned crane, or the West African crowned crane.
We love our adorable Squirrels! 🐿️
These animals are important to their ecosystems because they are seed dispersers: helping plants, trees, and fungi to grow and populate the habitats. Prevost's Squirrels are also known as tri-colored squirrels with their jet-black, white, and reddish-brown fur; more colorful than our native Grey Squirrels scurrying around the Zoo. They are found on the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo, Bangka Island, Rhio Archipelago, Sulawesi and the East Indies. They can be found in lowland forests.
Pheasant Babies Hatched in 2024
Bornean Crested Fireback Pheasants - threatened with extinction in the wild, but 3 more have been added to the group here! Our pair has produced 3 male offspring! This is great news for the whole population in AZA zoos because they can contribute to the conservation program to save this beautiful bird species. #birdphotos #endangered #pheasants #zooanimals #conservation
