Hey, authors! Sometimes the blank page can be more than just frustrating. But having a blank mind when you get that blank page up can do more harm than good. Here's a blog post I wrote for author S.A. Crow's blog that talks all about that (plus, it's got a free course you can tap into about first draft strategies in the bargain).

Charles Dickens, Savior of Children
If you're a Charles Dickens fan, you know Dickens was notoriously obsessed with child labor. His books (and he too) advocated for fairer labor laws in English for child workers. The story goes he was forced to work because of his father's debts at a young age and it scarred him for the rest of his life. Perhaps that's why he had 10 children (not all of them pictured here).

Feminist Poetry Movement of the 1960s
Earlier this week, I talked about the feminist playwrights who were movers and shakers of the women's movement in the 1960s. Other artists were poets like Audre Lorde and Adrienne Rich (pictured here at the ends with another feminist writer, Meridel Le Sueur) who established the poetic genre of "confessional poetry" where they were upfront about the intimate details of women's lives (the stuff no one would talk about).
