Communion by bell hooks
I just love bell hooks so much! I remember learning about bell hooks’ concern about love when I was in high school. One of my awe-inspiring mentors throughout my teenage hood who was also my high school teacher introduced our class to couple of bell hooks’ writing on love. At the time, it was very challenging to even consider that the idea of love could be a subject that would concern many of us. Most of my classmates and I were from broken homes and to my mentor, he saw that the subject of love had to be touched upon. It not only questioned our perception of love in general, but it had us questioning the significance of it— how love, as something so pure and fluid played a rigid role through patriarchal lens. Now, I see that what he did was a revolutionary act.
