All Hästens beds have a frame handmade from slow-grown Nordic Pine. Due to the cold climate of where it's grown, the trees growth rate is limited—resulting in a tighter wood that's stronger than pine grown in a warmer region. We use untreated wood to avoid any nasty pollutants ruining the air you breathe while you sleep. And it's one of the most fire retardant natural materials out there.

We still make 'em like we used to. It's all we know, and 160 years of experience tells us there is no better way to craft beds that give the most blissful rest. Not that we're not constantly trying to prove ourselves wrong—trust us, we test just as much as we rest.

Craftsmen

Many of our artisans specialise in only one task. They've dedicated their working lives to perfecting one element of Hästens handcraft. Like the way we use a stitch through the side of the mattress to stabilise the layers of natural materials held within. Or let them glide across one another for a super soft surface feel.
